The story begins by Robert Walton a young and wealthy writer who wants to explore unexplored parts of arctic with such a passion and confidence. Probably people in 18 century were very curious about these places and wanted to read more. Walton writes with such a passion about it and explains in all the details how the place might look. “I try in vain to be persuaded that the pole is the seat of frost and desolation; it ever presents itself to my imagination as the region of beauty and delight.”(Pg1) This also shows that Romanticist wrote this story. In Romantic period many people believed in respect and focusing on individuals’ feelings and emotions. Monster was one who had all different kinds of feelings and corruptions in his mind and heart. Even though he was abandoned he tried to stay strong and be confident in some ways. Monster is the only one who was innocent and unfortunately ended up being hurt the most. In his first experience with humans he was attacked and bruised by stones and other weapons for no reason. After being rejected by De Larceys who were people he really cared for he slowly started feeling hatred against mankind and his creator. After killing William he felt powerful and said “I too can create destruction: my enemy is not invulnerable; this death will carry despair to him.”(Pg127) Shelly wanted to show the emotions and feelings of this creature, which shows her creativity and influence by time period. Warning of science is one ideal of Romanticist that can be seen from the Victor Frankenstein’s story. His thrust for knowledge, desire and ambition inspired him to do something, which could only be read in books.
