Jonas posses more intelligence and perceptive than many of his peers, he thinks seriously than they do about life, worrying about his own future as well as his friend’s Asher. He enjoys learning and experiencing new things: he chooses to volunteer at a variety of different centers instead of only one, because he can have more experiences in more that just one. He also get pleasure from learning about and connecting with other people. Jonas also demonstrates courage in this novel by taking the memories of The Giver and showing that he is not afraid of being the communities new Receiver and is not afraid of trying to make changes in the community, both to awaken other people in the richness of life and to stop the cruelty that is practiced in the community.Jonas also has the characteristic of wisdom and because of his training he has more wisdom than anyone else in his community but he is still very young and knows little about life in the community itself. At his youth it is possible for him to receive the memories from The Giver and learn from them, if he were older, he might me less open to the new experience and emotions.He also has the quality of integrity from being so truthful and reliable.
