The Drunkards good friend Peter Crowley was a very bad influence on his friend. He was known to be lazy and tried always to “sponge” off of others. His other problem was he was also a drinker and when the two got together, we always knew what the outcome would be. The man’s son was used to being told to “help” his Dad and to try to keep him in line. He was always sent with his father to “watch out” for him, so he stayed out of trouble and also stayed sober. What influence does a young child have on a parent? Did Mom really think that a boy of his age was able to stop someone with such an addiction? I think not, though his mother always hoped it would work. Then it happened, the day of Mr. Dooley’s funeral. Mr. Dooley was a good friend, and also the intellect that The Drunkard enjoyed spending hours listening to. After the church the father and his friend Peter decided to go to a bar.
