Despite complaining of groin and back pains Anelka refused to take a fitness test - and club doctors subsequently found no evident damage. Anelka's latest display of stubbornness was effectively the last straw for boss Kevin Keegan, who became increasingly anxious to off-load the errant Frenchman.
