Health and Human Development

... were a huge influence on me as well. I was born much later than them, so I grew up with teenagers as my older brother and sister. I was mostly around young adults and adults when I was a child, and this is why I have always been polite and respectful towards them. My sister used to dress me up older then I was and was also the reason I love Michael Jackson and Madonna so much. She would make me perform their dances and songs for her friends and my parent・s friends as well. My brother brought out the adventurous side of me. I am not sure if it was the hours of German Spotlight that he would let me play with him and the neighborhood kids or jumping off the roof into six feet of snow. Either way, I always got into trouble when I was with him. In Erikson・s Theory on development he derives the concept of Trust vs. Mistrust. In my personal experience as a child, I was very attached to my mother and father. I would actually go around following my mother and father everywhere they went. No matter where they were at, I was always right beside them. Erikson also compares Initiative vs. Guilt and says that it is important for children to have lots of choices so that their creativity can shine (Burger, lecture, 2004). For a child to feel loved and accepted is the greatest gift of all. Freud・s Psychosexual Theory of Development says that at the Latency Stage children will devote their energy to learning and to others (Burger, lecture, 2004). When I started kindergarten at the age of six, I can remember chasing boys around on recess and trying to kiss them. I also remember loved to learn about nature and animals, so I loved to do reports and presentations to the class. I was intrigued by a lot when I was little. At this stage kids usually pretend, begin to understand teasing and use language to interact. The kids in my neighborhood would always tease me by calling me :Mallapee Peein・ All over; (they still do, but thankfully shortened it to Mallapee). That name, along with :Twirly Tails and :Cowlick Head;, even had their own songs to go along with them. Whenever anyone would start to sing them, I would just start crying and then run home. I was also a huge :house; p...
