Homosexuality is a reality in modern American life, and so must be acknowledged by all. However, all need not wholeheartedly accept homosexuality. While it is true that the acceptance of homosexuality has become more politically correct, this acceptance need not be universal and unconditional. By using examples from the areas of public education, the scientific community, and the United States military, this writer will show that homosexuality must be more closely examined before society further promotes universal acceptance of it. ... In recent years, one of the subjects being introduced at the elementary school level is homosexuality. The problem is not the introduction of knowledge about the existence of homosexuality, or even teaching that all individuals deserve the right to be respected. ... The acceptability of homosexuality as a norm in American culture is a debate that rages in churches, courtrooms and households everywhere. Still, homosexuality is being taught as normal and morally acceptable in elementary schools as if there is no such debate. ...
