I do not think she should have persisted to be with John because he clearly did not want to be with her. Abigail was “on a mission” to make John her own, and “dances with [John] on [Elizabeth’s] grave” (1309). Abigail displayed her obstinate attitude by constantly trying to find Elizabeth guilty of witchcraft and never giving up. She noticed Mary Warren making a poppet. When she finished, Mary stuck the needle in its stomach. Abigail used this to her advantage. If I had been in the courtroom and noticed Mary Warren making this doll, I would have immediately gone up against Abigail and told Judge Danforth about the needle. Of course, no one wanted to go up against Abigail because she would have probably accused those whom speak out with witchcraft. Abigail seemed to have a callous attitude, especially after getting kicked out of the Proctor household. All of her antics led to the prosecution of Elizabeth and her supposed witchcraft. Though the townspeople believed her, Abigail’s squad of girls knew what was going on, but did not have enough courage to challenge Abigail’s accusations against Elizabeth, as they feared for their lives.
