RELATIONSHIP WITH STUDENTS
...ackground, I belong to the top student in my department; I can answer all the questions from my students. They always tell me that they like the lecture; they appreciate my understanding to allow some delay of their assignment. But the evaluation shows they are lying and I don’t know why they don’t like me. They think I am too strict, while the truth is I give more “A”s and less “C”s compared with domestic TA’s class. They say they can’t understand my lecture, while the truth is after each section I will pause and ask if anybody has question and there is no one ask any question. I feel really confused and kind of betrayed by my students. And I just lose the fun for teaching. Most of the domestic students and teachers think the international students are working hard and serious to their job. For major study it is a fantastic thing and all the international students belong to the top in the department. But as TAs we have never done a satisfactory job. We are nice to all students and prepare carefully for our lectures but we are not as popular as ...
