ICT in Education
...uter and then print off copies that automatically have the changes on. Also it saves the teacher time as she doesn’t have to draw the graph on the board. The graph made on the computer will also be more accurate and look a lot neater. Another useful thing about whiteboards for Maths is that the whiteboard background can easily be changed to squared so that there is always an option of a squared background allowing drawings to be drawn quicker and easier. For maths there is also software available to help you learn and get better at maths. There are software programs for the SATS that have exam questions and also hints and explains topics. This will greatly help students to revise and also provides an excellent teaching resource. This software goes all the way up to the older years of the school providing good revision resources for both GCSE and A Level maths in the form of mock exams taken on the computer and helpful revision hints and guides. ICT could also be used in the teaching of Music as there are great software packages that allow you to write down your composition by plugging in a keyboard to the computer playing your composition normally on the keyboard and the software automatically writes down what you have played. This saves a lot of time as after playing it once through it has written something down correctly that would have normally taken a student a few hours to complete and get correct. Also ICT can be used to create music as with the use of good software and a compatible computer you can create whole compositions with just a computer as it has a full sound record of many instruments. You will be able to mix, speed up or slow down, add rhythms, base, drums, intros basically anything you want. This is very helpful as it allows students to create complicated compositions without having to hire a full orchestra to have to play it for them. Another good point is that these compositions can also be easily copied to CDs this is good as it can be sent off to the examiners this way for marking and it allows better sound quality. Also music teachers will also find the internet is a great resource as samples of all different kinds of music from around the world can be downloaded and played to a class to illustrate points without having to go out and buy many different CDs for just the one track. This will save the school money and allow students much more access to different kinds of music and lots more of it. ICT could also be used in the teaching of foreign languages such as French. This is as on the internet and through software there are programs that help students with their pronunciation. This is done by the student typing in what they want to know how to pronounce and through speech software the computer then pronounces it therefore showing the student the correct pronunciation. There are also good software programs that allow students to develop their listening skills as the computer talks some French then ask some questions. This is a good teaching tool as it allows students to work at their own pace through questions and repeat ones that they struggled with. This also allows better students to work ahead therefore allowing the teacher time to help the struggling students. With the help of an internet connection French students could also e-mail French students to help improve their French. This is a good way of keeping up friendships between two countries, improving the students French and may lead to French exchange with is a great opportunity and will also greatly improve the students French. There are many advantages of schools using the internet. The main one being the huge amount of information that is available on the internet. This large amount of information is an invaluable resource for all subjects. There are online dictionaries foreign and English to help with translations and essays that students might not have access to if they did not have the internet. There are websites full of newspaper articles on every subject that help with extra readings and finding examples for subjects such as Theatre Studies research and General Studies. These articles would be hard to get to and you would have to go to a large library and look through and this could be diffic...
