The major down to this strategy is that it is often difficult to keep each type of doughnut available and fresh. Many customers will find their favorite doughnut unavailable simply because Dunkin Donuts is trying to attract customers with their large amount of varieties. Krispy Kremes are generally preferred due to their supremacy over the test of Dunkin Donuts, but many doughnut shoppers go to Dunkin Donuts simply for their large amount of selections. In the breakfast industry, coffee acts as either a complement to a main product, or as the main attraction. Coffee lovers generally go to Dunkin Donuts for the usually superior coffee. Much coffee related drinks are served, along with excellent basic coffees. From a market point, Dunkin Donuts pushes their coffee drinks with doughnuts as a complement, while Krispy Kreme markets their doughnuts heavily with coffee on the side. Krispy Kreme’s coffee branch has just started. They have just recently released a new line of coffees; as opposed to the bland decaf and regular brew offered previously. Dunkin Donuts has near inadequate service, but once again, individual taste is a heavy thing. Some customers do in fact prefer Krispy Kreme coffee to Dunkin Donuts’, just as some people prefer Dunkin Donuts to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.
