They want to be able to open up to the world and show everything that’s inside of them and be able to do so without any regrets. Also, “Help me to move on but please don’t tell me how/I’m on my way/I’m moving out” shows someone who needs the strength and support to move through difficult time in there life, yet they don’t need to be told how to do so. They know that slowly, yet surely they are making there way through life. The most difficult part of the text to analyze was “Don’t turn away, don’t you need me?”. It was difficult to interpret because I am not sure who is being spoken of when it is said, “Don’t you need me”. I assume “you” is a loved one such as a parent who isn’t accepting her for who she truly is, and they are turning away and causing a breach in the relationship by trying to change her. “Here’s Where I Stand” is a song about standing up for who you are and what you believe in, even if it means leaving what you once knew. A person realizes that in there life they have come so far, but they are only themselves, not what others think they should be.
