... my mother needed to be confined for a week for more laboratory tests. The results of the tests suggested that my mother needed an operation. The family agreed on what the doctor said. By the end of the week around October 9, 1999 my mother was scheduled for her operation. On that day, her operation didn’t follow through because they found out that my mother has cancer on her liver as well, this is shocking news for my family. The whole family was in denial and my father suggested that we needed to get a second opinion from another doctor or specialist. So we did get the second opinion and the results were the same, but we are not contended, so we did get another doctor from USC University Hospital. But it sad to say, that the results were the same too. Since then, the doctor suggested that my mother needed to go under a chemo-therapy and medication treatment while confined in the hospital. A year and a half passes and my mother’s condition deteriorated and got worse. She started losing weight, her balance and memory, but we didn’t lose hope. We’re still hoping for miracles and cure even though the doctor told us that she was dying. My family spent time with my mother in the hospital to give her support and guidance. You can see the happiness and joy of my mother thru her facial expression every time we visit her. On the other hand, you can feel the sadness inside our hearts, the feeling that you’ll loosing someone dear to you, a feeling that hard to explain, it’s like someone stabbing your heart deeper and deeper and you’re asking for help but no one is around to help you. After three years of treatment my mother turns to her worse she lost her memory couldn’t walk and couldn’t talk. These symptoms were explained by her doctor. Because of this or results the family grieves for sadness and lost of hope. The whole family went for counseling and help. More than four years of sadness and lost hope turn to darkness.
