...s. First let’s look at Herbert proposal of seniority being the bases of how parking is determined. He claims that for years it was an unwritten rule that was adhere to by all tenants. H states that most of the tenants have lived there for over ten years and his policy wouldn’t cause much of a problem. His solution does have its merits. It would reward the tenants that continue to live in this complex and also show respect for the complex longest standing tenants. The problem here is that all residents pay the same and it’s not fair that because of longevity someone owns a parking space. Harriet is new to the complex has very valid points also. When she signed her lease there was nothing in it talking about reserved parking for certain tenants. She might have made a different decision if she had known that. She has some security concerns as well. She is new and if this is the way it’s been done, maybe she should respect it. Finally Maria idea of selling the parking spaces has some validity also. The selling of spaces allows for equal shots at parking spaces. The tenants that want the ideal parking spaces will have a chance to bid on them. Problem here is that who decides on bidding prices, some tenants probably can’t afford paying for parking as well as others. The owner of the building now makes money off of parking that was free.
