Diablo 3 ideas

...ique/Rare items without serious consideration. New Classes: My ideas for new classes come from various places, ideas, and inspirations. I've tried to make them interesting, without conflicting with Lorelorn's ideas or the Diablo universe. The Hoplite: Due to the losses in recent years, these once masters of group tactics and combat, have had to learn to fight as individual soldiers. Their homeland now decimated by demon hordes, many have become mercenaries for hire, or crusaders against the encroaching darkness. Masters of Spears, Javelins, and Shields they can hit a foe from afar or ravage him in melee combat. The Hoplite's primary weapons will be spears. As a bonus they can use a Spear, normally a two-handed weapon, in one hand at a damage penalty, much like the Barbarians from Diablo2 can with two-handed swords. However, unlike the barbarians the Hoplites cannot dual-wield spears in this manner. They may only pair the spear with a shield. Their skill trees will be split into Spear, Javelins, and Shield. The Spear tree will deal primarily with varying kinds of spear attacks. If you didn't pick up on that, you probably play Barbs too much. Skills included in this tree would be things such as "Hold The Line." Useful for if swarmed the Hoplite can spin his spear around his body in a circle striking with the blunt end to knock enemies away. It would hit all enemies adjacent to the hoplite and cause knock back, however the damage would be decreased. More skill points would mean less of a penalty to the damage. Another could be an aura-like ability or timed ability that increases attack speed with spear and javelin class weapons at a cost of mana. As long as the "aura" is up, his/her attack speed is increased, but it drains mana while it's running, or in the case of a timed ability it runs out after a duration. The Javelin tree wouldn't give elemental/poison attacks like the Amazon, it would be more in the vein of unconventional nonmagical attacks. Skills would include abilities such as "Pin." By throwing a javelin at an enemies legs the Hoplite decreases damage done, but also decreases his opponents foot speed. Another, could be "Harpoon" which would allow the Hoplite to stick and catch an opponent with a rope tied to a barbed javelin. Depending on the size of the monster, the monster would either be drawn to him, or him to them. I could see this leading to interesting party tactics such as a hoplite dragging a monster into an Engineer's mine. Classes having complimentary abilities would add to the fun of party combat. Yet another skill could be targeted at his opponent's arms, and possibly decrease their damage/attack speed for a certain amount of time. Another could be "Arc." With "Arc" the Hoplite hurls his Javelin over obstacles to hit his target. This would bypass any enemies standing between him and his target. Basically, this tree is using the javelin to make targeted attacks to hamper his opponent's ability to fight, and/or change the dynamics of the battle. The Shield tree deals mostly with defensive skills with a few offensive abilities. Skills could include "Defensive Stance." Because of his experience and training in using his shield, the hoplite can focus on defense and increase his armor and block percentage and speed against projectiles, the downside being he is immobile while in this stance. He can attack, but the stance ends as soon as he moves. Extra skill points would increase the defensive bonus. An advanced form of Defensive Stance, could allow movement, but at reduced foot speeds, and extra points in this skill would decrease that speed penalty, and the defensive bonuses would be set. "Route" could be another skill in this tree. The Hoplite charges in strikes with his weapon, then crashes into his opponent with his shield knocking them back and possibly stunning them. Extra skill points would increase stun chance/duration and shield damage. If there's still need for more skill slots, you can always toss a couple passive shield defense, block%, and/or block speed increase skills. Heaven's Scion: With the sudden mortality of the Demon realm, comes a unique opportunity for total victory for Order. Forgoing the norm, and following in Tyrael's footsteps, some Angels have started to take a more active part in the goings on of the human realm. One such way they do this, is by imbuing power upon an individual of great virtue. These people, known as Scions' of Heaven, are granted immense holy magic. They gain the ability to summon creatures of Order, and once powerful enough, to even call an Angel to fight at their side. The first skill tree would be "Calling." They start off being able to call in smaller Heaven denizens. The first such being the angelic equivalent of the fallen. Once they hit level thirty (the max level requirement to gain skills one would assume) they...
