...r Adolf Hitler (inspired by Benito Mussolini) plotted to seize power in Munich. His attempt failed, and was instead put in jail for 9 months. During this time, he was able to express his extreme anti-Semitic ideas in his book, Mein Kempf (My Struggle). In it, he asserted that the German (especially ones with blonde hair/ blue eyes) were the Aryan Race, and Non-Aryan Races (Jews, Slavs, Gypsies) were considered inferior or sub-human. People did not yet know that after the outbreak of World War II, Hitler would establish “The Final Solution” that were essentially, death camps (which intentionally overworked and underfed workers, consisted of crematoriums, and were watched by a mass number of unjust soldiers). After returning from prison (1924), Hitler only came back to the rejection of his ideas, until the German economy collapsed because American loans stopped as a result of the Great Depression. At this time, the people needed a strong leader, so they turned to Hitler for help. Hitler and the Nazi regime quickly took command of the economy, and slowly, but surely gained power. On March 7, 1936, he forced brinkmanship upon France to gain access to the Rhineland, which was earlier forbidden by the Treaty of Versailles. Stunned, the French were unwilling to wage war, and gave into Hitler’s demands. One month later, Germany made an agreement with Japan. Germany, Italy, and Japan came to be known as the Axis Powers. By September 1938, after already annexing Austria and Czechoslovakia, Hitler demanded that the Sudetenland be given to Germany. The Sudetenland Crisis created concern between France and Britain, so, to avoid conflict, Mussolini proposed a meeting. (Later known as the Munich Conference).
