...ily reckless but definitely very risky ) … or whether you are trying to decide between taking the uninspiring 9 to 5 job , that guarantees you a moderately comfortable lifestyle , and chasing your dream of fame and fortune in the world of private business , you are always making choices that would shape your life and you as a person. And the question remains the same ; which is better , a reckless life of highs and lows , or a safe but humdrum existence ? Reckless is never good , it is a word associated with miscalculation and loss . But is there ever a big gain without a big risk involved ? Or at least a substantial one ? From business , where the most profitable ventures are the most risky , to love where the more deeply involved you are , the more joy you feel , and also the bigger the risk of getting deeply hurt , we all know that to play it safe all the time will probably get you nowhere ... To win big you must risk big , but then you might lose big and end up much worse than when you started … On the other hand to play it safe you are guaranteed minimal losses , but more likely than not , you are also guaranteed a life haunted by two words : what if ? Those who take the risks , who have the dead hearts , iron stomachs , or nerves of steel ( choice of organ depending on culture ) , make the most money , become famous young , or make history . They also develop ulcers , hypertension and a tendency to heart attacks . And worse , they sometimes give them to those around them . Although looking around me I cannot help but think we live in a world of extremists , let us acknowledge those who adopt neither philosophy , who are neither totally daring all the time nor playing it absolutely safe . Are they the happiest ? Or at least the ones with least regrets , not having risked too much , yet not having led a totally boring life without daring anything ? Maybe ... Or maybe they are worse off than either one of the previous two kinds . No big successes . No great achievements . Yet no stress-free peacef...
